Maryland Hunting FAQ's
Q: How many people can you hunt?
Each Captain/guide can hunt up to 6. With 7 guides if you party is over 6 “No Problem” You will have more than one guide.
Q:What are the seasons?
We hunt geese September – February. Ducks are one week in October and November –January. Here is a link to Maryland DNR web site about seasons.

Q: When is the best time to come?
Canada geese come anytime September-February. Our goose guides always are “on the birds” Sea Ducks is November-January and Diver Ducks is December –January.
Q: How do I get a license and how much?
You will need a federal duck stamp from your post office.
ON-LINE get the 3 day non-resident license $45.00 and a Maryland duck stamp. $9.00. Total is $54.00

Q: What do I need to bring?
WADERS if you are layout boat hunting or waterproof pants! Other than that just your normal duck hunting stuff. YOU WILL NOT BE GETTING IN THE WATER!
Camera, shells, duck or goose calls and warm waterproof clothing!
Q: What shells should I bring?
We use # 3-4 for ALL our ducks and BB-3 on geese.
Q: What Hotel should I stay at?
For divers and sea duck hunts La Qunita in Waldorf Md 301-645-0022. Sea duck only hunts Chesapeake Beach Resort 866-312-5596. For our Upper River and goose hunts we use Quality Inn in Frederick 301-695-0281 or Comfort Inn in Frederick 301-662-0281.
Q: Do you rent guns?
No we do not rent guns.
Q: Can I bring my dog?
We welcome you to bring your trained retriever on your hunt, provided we know in advance that the dog will accompany you. For the safety of all hunters and the safety of your dog, all dogs must be steady to shot and be controlled 100% of the time. Unmanageable dogs will be immediately kenneled for the remainder of the hunt. Single hunters may not bring a dog if they are hunting with other hunters/groups.
Q: What Airport do I fly into?
Dulles, National or BWI are all close!
What is the weather?
We hope it is a little cold and windy to make the birds move!!
But November is 40-70, December is 20-50 and January is 10-50 degrees.
Q: What days do you hunt?
We hunt every day BUT SUNDAY.
Q: Do you combine parties?
Yes and no. We do have a minimum per day so if that is paid then NO. We welcome single hunters and we try to put a party together most every week for them.
Q: Can we use our calls?
YES bring your calls!!
Q: Do the guides shoot?
Again YES and NO. They are going to insure all cripples are dispatched ASAP!
Other than cripples we usually do not but our guide Mike Guard is an AA sporting clays shooter and will help on some tips if asked!!
Q: Tipping? How Much?
The norm is $25-50 per hunter per day. Our guides spend days getting ready before the season and hours getting ready before your hunt!
