Black Duck Outfitters has been a licensed Maryland waterfowl outfitter and guide service for over 10 years. All of our sea duck and diver duck guides are also licensed USCG captains. Canvasbacks and Blue Bills!! The F-18 of ducks. Black Duck Outfitters diver duck guides again use traditional Maryland “BIG RIG” long line decoy sets to bring in the ducks. Our Diver Duck hunts are on the fresh water tributaries of the Chesapeake Bay. This is a time honored Maryland waterfowl hunt! Just like it has been done for over 100 years in some of the same waters that very famous decoy carvers used to hunt!
Field hunts over “large” full body Canada goose decoys. Our goose guides use both layout blinds and hedge row blinds. We have a five bird per hunter limit. Black Duck Outfitters Maryland goose guides are excellent goose callers and are Pro-Staff for “Foiles Migrators Champion Duck and Goose Calls” and “FA Brand” waterfowl.
Sink box hunting was the traditional way of duck “killing” years ago by the market hunters. It has been outlawed and the closest way now is Layout Boat Hunting. Our duck hunting guides will do both Sea Duck Hunts and Diver Duck Hunts with layout boats.
Duck Man Dave” has been duck and goose guiding for Black Duck Outfitters for over 10 years. He has been fishing and hunting the Upper Potomac River for over 40 years. He knows the spots the birds want.
Woodies, Mallards, Diver Ducks and Canada Geese all use the river every day!

SEA DUCK HUNTING IN MARYLAND
Maryland sea duck hunting takes place in the Chesapeake Bay. Our sea duck guides hunt the western and eastern shore for sea ducks. The guides use “Big Rig” long line sets to bring in the birds. This is fast shooting action for Scoters and Old Squaw “Long Tail” ducks. Buffle Heads, Blue Bills and other divers are also on the menu.

Bringing a Dog?
We welcome you to bring your trained retriever on your hunt, provided we know in advance that the dog will accompany you. For the safety of all hunters and the safety of your dog, all dogs must be steady to shot and be controlled 100% of the time. Unmanageable dogs will be immediately kenneled for the remainder of the hunt. Single hunters may not bring a dog if they are hunting with other hunters/groups.
